  The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has forwarded the nomination of Iduma Enwo Igariwey as replacement for Governor David Umahi to the independent national electoral commission following his sack by the high court. The party's national chairman Iyorchia Ayu at a media briefing in Abuja said Fred Udeogu has also been nominated as deputy governor. READ ALSO : BREAKING: Court Sacks Ebonyi state governor, Deputy over defection This followed a Federal High court ruling that ordered Ebonyi state Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, to vacate their sits as the sitting governor and deputy on grounds that the PDP won the election on March 2019 and not its candidate. Having defected to the APC, the court ruled that Governor David Umahi And his Deputy Eric Igwe cannot transfer the mandate of the PDP to the APC.

  Senator Ademola Adeleke Senator Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the Osun PDP governorship primary election held at the Osogbo township stadium. The governorship election is scheduled to hold on July 16. The PDP primary, held at the 10,000 capacity Oshogbo stadium, was also contested by Dotun Babayemi. The primary election held amid allegation of bias and litigations which could have stalled the process. Senator Adeleke was also the PDP’s flagbearer in 2018 when he lost to incumbent Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress. POLIRENA however, observed that a parallel primary election by a faction of the party also held in the state capital.

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State (picture courtesy, PM news) Federal High court has ordered Ebonyi state Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, to vacate their sits as the sitting governor and deputy on grounds that the PDP won the election on March 2019 and not its candidate.   Having defected to the APC, the court ruled that Governor David Umahi And his Deputy Eric Igwe cannot transfer the mandate of the PDP to the APC.   Citing section 221 of the constitution, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the PDP immediately send names of replacements to INEC so as to conduct fresh elections.   Justice Ekwo also ordered INEC to seize from recognizing David Umahi and Eric Igwe as the Governor and deputy of the Ebonyi state.

  Sunday Adeyemo  (Picture courtesy, Guardian Newspaper) Authorities in Benin republic have released Nigerian separatist leader, Sunday Adeyemo Popularly known as Sunday Igboho. His spokesperson disclosed this according to a BBC website report. Mr Igboho was arrested at a Benin airport in July 2021 alongside his wife on Nigeria's request, although his wife was released days later. The couple was said to be headed for Germany where his wife is a citizen. He was accused of entering Benin illegally and planning to cause trouble but he denied the charges. The Nigerian authorities never made a formal extradition request. In a statement on Monday, his spokesman said Mr Igboho was released to the leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba Self-determination Groups, Banji Akintoye. Details on his release are still sketchy.
